Recently, Smart MCs’ advisor, Prof. Steve Oh, attended the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) Annual Meeting in Hamburg, Germany, on our behalf and presented our poster.

ISSCR is a global non-profit organization dedicated to advancing stem cell science and regenerative medicine. It brings together researchers, clinicians, educators, and industry professionals to promote knowledge exchange, foster collaboration, and support the translation of stem cell research into clinical applications and treatments. In addition to setting standards and organizing international conferences and courses, ISSCR also publishes the renowned journal Stem Cell Reports.

The theme of this year’s ISSCR Annual Meeting was “Stem Cells Across the Lifespan: From Development to Aging and Beyond.” The conference focused on cutting-edge research and innovations in stem cell biology, with sessions covering developmental biology, disease modeling, regenerative medicine, and the aging process. The goal was to gain a comprehensive understanding of stem cell functions at different life stages and their potential in treating various diseases and age-related conditions.

At the conference, we not only learned about the latest industry developments, including the effects of stem cells in clinical trials for Alzheimer’s and diabetes, and the use of organ-on-chip technology in drug development, but also had in-depth discussions with many colleagues about the steps and prospects of using microcarriers in stem cell production and clinical applications. We also finalized plans for future collaboration.
